As we celebrate this 80 yr. milestone, we know that it is only possible thanks to the brilliant professors, gifted musicians and fine music educators who since 1934 have given us this foundation and have shared the same MISSION: “to advance the interest of music and musicians, raise the standard of music teaching and promote the interchange of ideas.” This idea exchange is achieved through master classes, round tables, guest artist performances and clinicians in the field exploring all genres of music, at our gatherings. They, together with so many masters, have inspired us to continue to create new ways to motivate our youth year by year, decade by decade.
Three elements make up our association symbol, The Column, which is the pillar of presidents and teacher members who have given us the foundation we have, The Muse of Music, always by our side providing inspiration and creativity, and the Manuscript (original manuscript of Chopin’s Lithuanian Song Op. 74 No. 16) displaying scratched out sections, with new musical ideas, signifying that we are forever improving as individuals, as well as a professional music entity.
